The Littles Loves

I still don’t know if it is the tiny little toes, the little baby grunts or the distinct baby smell that I love most about newborns. Bringing a new life into the world is one of the most magical experiences you will have in your lifetime and its absolutely one that you want to capture

Below I have popped together some key info on how we plan a newborn session together and how this all works. But please if you have any questions at all feel free to email me as I am always here to help.

Oh, the early days with a newborn were so incredible and from memory a little exhausting too. But they are the kind of f moments you want to soak up and keep forever and EVER. I am sure you have heard the good old saying of how fast time flies when you have kids?? Well, I am here to tell you it is 100% true! They really are only little for a short period of time.

A few years ago when we had our first bub I booked a newborn session with my photographer. I remember very clearly telling her we wanted just photos of the baby and maybe a few of our hands with him, but we did not want any photos of us.

In my head, I thought there was NO way I wanted photos of myself looking tired just after I had gone through labour. I was actually really shocked when she turned around and told me I would regret not being in the photos and that it was a memory I would want to look back on one day. So I agreed to be in some photos.

Today, my firstborn is 3 years old, goes to kinder and has the biggest attitude, and also loves to cuddle. I can not tell you how important those photos of the 3 of us are to me now. Honestly, I feel like 3 years have flown and the emotions and memories I feel when I look at those photos fill my soul. Sounds deep I know.

ALSO, every time I look at those photos I now think about how fresh-faced and young I looked, the complete opposite of what I thought at the time.

The moral of the story, you will one day regret not capturing this time, so make sure you take the time to do it before it’s too late.

let’s talk about..

Kind Words

“I love how it was all natural and you were just able to get the right angle and make it work. We just felt so comfortable and really enjoyed it!

We are absolutely in LOVE with our photos. My Mum wants to print them all and put them on her wall!”

How do we plan out your session?

My number one goal here is for us to plan out a session that is truly unique to you, I want the images to tell your story. To begin the planning stage we will look at a few starting questions to help us lock in a date and time for your session.

Once we have locked in the time and date, the next step is a little online questionnaire to help get to know more about you and what this session truly means and represents to you.

Then the final step in the process is working out the styling and outfits, you know the fun stuff!

  • The best time of day for any outdoor session will always be golden hour, the last hour before sunset.

The main reason for this is that the sun doesn't cast any harsh shadows across your face and it also has the most perfect golden glow.

Indoor session are usually best from mid morning on.

  • As location is a big part of your session I want to make sure you have all the info you need to make the choice to truely suits you.

I have popped together a location guide of a few of my favourite locations to hold session which I will send out to you during the planning phase.

But I am always up for exploring new locations if you have something else in mind.

  • The questionnaire will be sent through with your contract and it really is a great little tool to help me understand exactly what you want to get out of your session

If you need help in anyway I am always here to guide you.

  • Once we lock your session in I will work with you on picking your outfit options for your booking. I have a detailed session guide which talks through and gives ideas on how to style but I am always here to chat one on one if that works better for you.

I also provide a client wardrobe which you are more then welcome to borrow from for your session.

  • Once we have worked through all of the above, I know that we will have everything we need to truely tell your story in session.

If you want to jump on the phone at all and chat thought the plan before the day then let me know and we can lock something in

I seriously can’t wait to help you tell share your story

Who should I invite to my session?

This a question I often get asked and one that can truely change the vibe and outcome of your images. There is really no generic answer for everything so I have popped together a few options.

  • In all of my newborn sessions I include Mum, Dad and siblings. I thinks is so important to preserve this time in your life as a little family unit.

During the session we will do a mix of everyone with bub and some solo images of bub too.

  • I often get asked about extended family at newborn sessions. This is something we can always chat about to work out a plan to suit.

With extended family I do always suggest that they are an extra at the end if we can make it work.

Unfortunately due to space I can’t accommodate extended family in my studio space

  • I am an absolute animal lover at heart so I completely understand when people want to have their little fur babies in their memories.

Unfortunately I don't allow fur babies in the studio as I do have 2 of my own at home.

Extra FAQ’s

Just a few extra questions I often get asked, but please if you have any more then I am only an email away!

  • We all know babies come in their own time. So the way we plan for this is to lock in a date 1-2 weeks after your due date. Then just keep me updated on when bubs arrives and we can shift the date if we need to.

  • I do! When you receive your gallery you will gain access to a my online print store which has connection with a variety of professional print labs.

The one thing I always recommend is to get your images printed professionally. Heading to Kmart to print your images can end up in poor quality prints.

  • I don't. My editing style is all light enhancements with a creative element.

I really love to capture the raw beauty rather then edit to perfection.

  • live in Doreen in the North East of Melbourne although I do travel across Melbourne.

  • Locations outside of my location guide may have a travel fee pending distance.

All in-home newborn sessions have a small travel fee of $100

I also offer Bump to Bub packages to combine both your sessions and spread out your payments.
